So it’s that time of the year. I’m not talking about the time where trees have no more leaves and the wind is much more biting. I’m not even talking about the time where we can spend time with our families and eat tons of turkey until we pass out. I am talking about the time of year when there is a book-to-movie trailer reveal extravaganza! My last post was about the new trailer for the film Warm Bodies, which is based on a book. It appears that with the end of the Harry Potter and Twilight series’ film adaptations, more books are being turned into movies. Stephenie Meyer, the author of the Twilight series, has a non-YA book that has also been turned into film, The Host.

The premise of The Host and, by this concept, its film adaptation as well, is the following: “A parasitic alien soul is injected into the body of Melanie Stryder. Instead of carrying out her race’s mission of taking over the Earth, “Wanda” (as she comes to be called) forms a bond with her host and sets out to aid other free humans.” This is not really a new concept, but it proves interesting enough in the trailer. The film stars big-time and up-coming actors Saoirse Ronan as Melanie Stryder, Diane Kruger as The Seeker, William Hurt as Jeb Stryder, Max Irons (YUM!) as Jared Howe, and Jake Abel as Ian O’Shay.

The Host film is set to be released on March 23, 2013 by Open Road Films.
