It is definitely that time of the year! I previously posted this week about book-to-movie adaptations (it seems like that is all there is these days!) and the release of their trailers. Well, this is the third one out this week. I bet all the YA fans’ hearts are just on pure overdrive right about now–I will only join this club when a trailer for Catching Fire comes out, since Jennifer Lawrence is my crack-cocaine. It’s the turn for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, by author Cassandra Clare.

The fantasy world brought on by Clare includes every single creature, good and bad, that you can imagine. City of Bones, the first book in the series, introduces the protagonist to this haunting world through tragedy. The official film synopsis is the following: “When her mom is attacked and taken from their home in New York City by a demon, a seemingly ordinary teenage girl, Clary Fray, finds out truths about her past and bloodline on her quest to get her back, that changes her entire life.” The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones looks like it will stay pretty true to the book.

The film adaptation The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones stars Lily Collins, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Jamie Campbell Bower, and Robert Sheehan. I have to say that when I heard of Robert Sheehan and Jonathan Rhys Meyers being in the movie, I fangirled a little. Interestingly enough, this is the third time that Jamie Campbell Bower is cast in Young Adult lit adaptations; he has played characters in the Harry Potter and Twilight films. Another thing that I find very interesting is that all of these adaptations that I have posted about have British actors in major roles (Harry Potter understandably so). British invasion, anyone? I find that I don’t mind it one bit.

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is set to be released August 2013.
